Hyderabad: Siddipet traffic ACP Suman Kumar, who abused Hyderabad traffic police personnel in a drunken condition, was let off on station bail. Hyderabad police served a notice to the Siddipet ACP asking him to cooperate with the investigation.

The local court rejected judicial remand of Kumar and others in connection with the case registered against him for abusing the Hyderabad traffic police after they detained the vehicle in which he and others were travelling.

Police officials said that they had implemented the court directions in the case by serving notice to the ACP and others.

In the normal process, when the accused are common people, the police serve notices asking them to appear for questioning. Later, arrests take place.

On November 13, SR Nagar traffic SI G. Kantha Rao lodged a complaint with the Madhuranagar police stating that when he was on duty near the Metro Rail station in Ameerpet, they detained a car in which the driver was found in a drunken condition.

When the traffic police tried to conduct breath analyser tests, ACP Kumar, sitting beside the driver's seat, got down from the vehicle and started abusing the Hyderabad traffic police personnel. He challenged them to register cases and take action against him.

The Madhuranagar police registered cases under section 132 (assaulting or using criminal force against a public servant while they are performing their duties), 238, 221 read with 3 (5) BNS and sections 185, 188 and 205 (the presumption of unfitness to drive) under the MV Act.

Madhuranagar sub-inspector C. Sainath Reddy, investigation officer of the case, said on Saturday that the court had rejected Kumar's remand as the registered cases are below seven years imprisonment. Following the court directions, they served notices and let off the Siddipet traffic ACP under station bail.
