Sikhs celebrate Guru Nanak's birthday with grand Nagar Keetan rally

Hyderabad: Hyderabad witnessed a grand Nagar Keertan procession on Wednesday, celebrating the 555th Prakash Purab, the birth anniversary of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji, the founder of Sikhism. The procession featured Shabad Keertans, the ceremonial carrying of the revered Guru Granth Sahib Ji on a beautifully decorated vehicle, and Nishan Sahibans (religious flag bearers) accompanied by captivating displays of Gatka, a traditional Sikh martial art.

Starting from Gurudwara Singh Sabha at Ashok Bazaar, the holy procession moved through Afzalgunj, Siddiamber Bazaar, Jambagh, Putli Bowli, and Central Gurudwara Sabha in Gowliguda, finally returning to Gurudwara Singh Sabha in the evening.

Organised by the GSGSS Prabhandak Committee, led by president S. Satvinder Singh Bagga, vice-president S. Jaspal Singh Tuteja, and secretary S. Joginder Singh Mujral, the Nagar Keertan was a vibrant celebration. Sikh youths from Hyderabad and Punjab performed Gatka, showcasing martial skills with kirpans and swords, impressing onlookers along the route. Keertani Jathas performed devotional Shabad Keertans, enhancing the spiritual atmosphere.
