Hyderabad: A six-year-old boy, who went missing, was found mauled to death by stray dogs near his house Maktha Mahabubpet, Miyapur in the early hours of Wednesday.

The victim Bosala Satvhik, a Class 2 student, was missing from 6 pm Tuesday. A local spotted his body with multiple dog bite marks at 7.10 am on Wednesday and informed his family members who were searching for him for the entire night, G. Ashappa, Sathvik’s uncle, said.

We rushed to the scene along with Sathvik’s father Bosala Veeresh and grandmother Bosala Danamma, and other villagers. We found Sathvik’s body lying at a dump yard near Dharmapuri Temple with dog bite marks on his face, head, stomach, private parts and legs. His grandmother Danamma fainted after seeing her grandson in this condition, Ashappa said.

Sathvik was the only son of Veeresh and Bosala Swapna. His mother Swapna had died of corona three years back, Veeresh works as a casual labour and his grandmother Bosala Danamma, aka Devamma, begs before Dharmapuri Temple in Maktha Mahabubpet, one of the locals said.

Sathvik as usual left his house at 6 pm. His father Veeresh had gone out for work. The boy was on his way to Dharmapuri Temple to meet his grandmother when stray dogs dragged him to the dump yard and mauled him to death, Miyapur police station inspector V Durga Rama Linga Prasad told Deccan Chronicle.

“We searched for Sathvik for the entire night in the locality and nearby villages but forgot to search him at the dumpyard. We did not expect as Sathvik was very familiar with stray dogs and often fed them with biscuits,” G. Ashok Reddy one of the villagers who came to Gandhi Mortuary along with Veerash to collect Sathvik’s body, said.

On being informed, Miyapur went to the scene and found the body with dog bites. Police said the dogs dragged the victim to an isolated place near the dumpyard and mauled him to death.

The Miyapur police have registered a case and are investigating the incident.

Police registered a case of suspicious death under 174 IPC and handed over the body to his family members after the postmortem at Gandhi Hospital. As there are no eyewitnesses to the dogs dragging the victim, police are probing the other possibilities.

Meanwhile, residents protested before the local municipal authority office demanding immediate measures to curb stray dog menace that are responsible for killing Sathvik.

On May 14, five-month-old Dattu Sainath had died after he was attacked by a pet dog. The incident occurred in Gautapur village in Vikarabad, when the victim’s father Dattu and mother Lavanya left Sainath at home and went to work at a nearby polishing unit. Following the incident the family members of the deceased along with villagers chased the pet and killed it.
