Suryapet: 2 shifted to jail for transporting PDS rice

Two arrested for illegal transportation of PDS rice in Suryapet district.

Suryapet: Suryapet police invoked the Preventive Detention (PD) Act against two people on Monday, transferring them to Chanchalguda Central Jail for their involvement in the illegal transportation and sale of Public Distribution System (PDS) rice.

Superintendent of police Sunpreet Singh announced that the PD Act was applied to Pasuku Narsimha Reddy, 53, from NTR district, Andhra Pradesh, and Athmakuru Jagadish, 23, a native of Khammam. The duo faced charges in a case filed by Kodad police for the unlawful transport of 32 tons of PDS rice.
Reddy was implicated in three cases related to the illegal movement of PDS rice, while Jagadish faced charges in two cases. The authorities emphasised their commitment to cracking down on the illegal distribution of essential commodities, ensuring that such violations are met with strict legal actions.
