Warangal: The management of SVS Group of Institutions (Diploma) in Bhimaram, Hanumakonda district, is reportedly withholding certificates, claim polytechnic students. This is despite a directive dated February 22 from the Telangana State Council of Higher Education (TSCHE).

The directive had ordered all the universities to instruct all affiliated private colleges under their jurisdiction not to insist on payment of tuition fees from students eligible for fee reimbursement and not to deny issuing original certificates under the pretext of not receiving the reimbursement from the government.

"It is not a healthy practice. Such colleges may be blacklisted and shall not be considered for fee reimbursement, which will also affect the affiliation of such colleges," the letter from the TSCHE Secretary to the registrars of universities had stated.

In violation of these instructions, students allege that the college is reportedly withholding the original certificates.

Speaking to Deccan Chronicle, a student who completed diploma in 2022 said that when they asked for their certificates, the college management stated that the certificates would only be issued once the reimbursement amount was credited to the college account.

Another female student mentioned that the management asked her to pay the fee upfront, promising to reimburse her once the government credited the reimbursement amount to the college. She added that the management informed her of this when she requested her certificates.

The students also noted that other colleges in the same city had issued certificates to their students within a few months.

Deccan Chronicle's repeated attempts to contact the Principal of the college for a comment on the issue did not yield any response.
