Hyderabad: The task force team of the food commissioner inspected restaurants in Begumpet on Wednesday.

At the popular Bowl O China, they found possible rat infestation and non-maintenance of temperature records. They failed to provide a copy of FSSAI license, which, incidentally, was not displayed in the premises at the time of inspection.

Even pest control records and medical fitness certificates of food handlers were not available. The windows and doors did not have insect-proof screens and the flooring was found patchy while there was water stagnation near the cleaning area. Food articles stored inside the refrigerator were neither covered nor labelled.

An inspection of New Urvasi Bar and Restaurant on Tuesday revealed that synthetic food colours were being used in non-vegetarian food. Live cockroach infestation was observed inside the kitchen and there was no display of the FSSAI license. Food handlers were not wearing proper gear and the ceiling had loose plastering flakes.

At The Manohar, the officials found live cockroach infestation in the kitchen and the store room. They also found expired food articles like tooty-fruity, karonda, mixed fruit flavouring agent and English mustard. There was water stagnation at the drain inside the kitchen. Although raw and semi-prepared food articles were covered, they were not labelled appropriately. The team found stale vegetables like carrots, tomatoes, onions and coriander while bread prepared in the premises was stored in a cold room without any cover. Medical fitness certificates of the food handlers were not shown nor were water analysis reports of the RO plant.
