Techie arrested for stabbing wife to death in Hyderabad
Hyderabad: It was a nightmare for an elderly couple after coming to know that their daughter was murdered by their son-in-law in Bachupally.
Speaking to Deccan Chronicle, Narayana Sri Ranga Nayakulu, father of the 29-year-old victim Madhulatha, said "We got a call from my elder daughter, who stays in Nizampet, at 1.30 am on May 5 saying that my other daughter had been murdered by her husband. We were in a state of shock hearing the tragic news."
Speaking in a choked tone, he said, “Madhulatha was married to Nagendra Baradwaj on February 15, 2020. Both software employees were living in Hyderabad. My daughter was unhappy because he constantly pestered her for more dowry. The behaviour of his parents was equally outrageous.”
“We had given `4 lakh and 250 grams gold, along with other items during the marriage. We continued to give more as when demanded and never thought of dissolving the marriage. The situation worsened after Srijay was born in December 2022. Unable to bear the torture any longer, Madhulatha came to live in our house in Prakasam,” Nayakulu said.
Nagendra came to their house on February 10 and assured that he would take care of Madhulatha and the child that they agreed to return with him. However, the situation remained the same, Nayakulu said.
On hearing of the murder, the family rushed to Hyderabad. “We found my daughter's body in a pool of blood with knife injuries. I then lodged a complaint with the Bachupally police," he said.
Following the complaint, the police arrested Nagendra. During the course of the investigation, it was revealed that the accused had fought quarrelled with Mathulatha over financial matters. “As usual, he asked his wife to hand over her salary to him every month. He beat her to get money and other valuables from her house," said inspector K. Upender Rao.
When she insisted on keeping her salary to take care of the baby, Nagenda allegedly stabbed her repeatedly with a kitchen knife.
Later, Nagendra approached his friend and confessed that he had killed Madhulatha. He tried to stab himself in the stomach. His friend took him to a hospital and called the police. The accused has been arrested and remanded.
