Teen Killed in Hit-and-Run While Crossing Road in Hyderabad
Hyderabad: A 14-year-old died after being run over by a car while he was crossing the road at about 6.30 pm on Wednesday. Hayathanagar circle inspector G. Ramakrishna identified the victim as Jashwant, a Class 10 student from Karmanghat. The car that hit him was heading towards Dilsukhnagar from Hayathnagar.
Jashwant had bought a Lord Ganesha idol for the upcoming Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations and was crossing the road to pay the seller when the accident occurred. His friends were waiting around 100 metres away.
Speaking to Deccan Chronicle, Jashwant’s uncle Venugopal said, “He was very active. We have no idea about how exactly it happened, but we got a call from the local people.”
The police upon being informed shifted Jashwant to a local hospital in Hayathnagar, where he was declared brought dead. The body was taken to the Osmania hospital mortuary for postmortem.
A case was registered under Section 125(a) of the BNS against the car driver. The driver is reportedly yet to be traced.
