HYDERABAD: Members of the Bar Council of Telangana have strongly condemned the manhandling of advocate Amruth Rao and his wife Kavitha by a Jangaon police inspector and other police personnel. Chairman A. Narasimha Reddy, along with members A. Giridhar Rao and K. Sunil Goud, called on the government to take disciplinary action against the policemen involved in the incident, accusing them of abusing their powers.

Ponnam Ashok Goud, chairman of the Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee’s (TPCC) legal wing, also criticised the excessive actions of the Jangaon police. He stated that the TPCC legal team would urge the superintendent of police (SP) of Jangaon district to take action against the erring officers.

“The advocate couple was subjected to undue force, and such actions are unacceptable. We demand immediate and stringent measures to ensure justice,” Reddy stated.

The Bar Council members and TPCC’s legal wing stressed the importance of upholding the rule of law and protecting the rights of legal professionals from such abuses of power.
