Hyderabad: The BJP charged that the Congress-led Telangana government had implemented the farm loan waiver for fewer than 29 lakh farmers while 74 lakh farmers were eligible for the scheme. The Congress government was celebrating the event by just releasing `17,000 crore as the farm loan waiver in three instalments, said Telangana BJP general secretary Gujjula Premender Reddy addressing a press conference on Friday.

He alleged that the Congress government did `Rythu Droham’ as it had misguided the farmers by telling them not to repay their crop loans with the promise of the waiver. Those who were not covered by the waiver would not be able to borrow again, he said.

Demanding that the Revanth Reddy government waive farm loans to all eligible farmers, Premender Reddy warned that the BJP would continue the agitation till the government fulfilled its promise.

"The Revanth Reddy government ahs failed to extend a `500 additional bonus on paddy procurement under Rythu Bharosa by confining the scheme only to a few fine varieties of rice. Even after three months of the Kharif season, the government has not provided any crop incentive support," he explained.

Premender Reddy has urged farmers to register their grievances pertaining to farm loan waiver and Rhthu Bharosa on farmers’ helpline numbers 88861 00097 and 92400 15247, run by the BJP Kisan Morcha.
