Update: 2024-08-19 20:29 GMT

Nizamabad: A TGSRTC bus was stuck in floodwaters in Nizamabad on Monday and passengers had to be rescued by police and locals at the Pamulabasthi railway under-bridge. A few passengers waded to safety from the Armoor-Nizamabad bus, while others had to be helped out. Heavy rainfall on Monday inundated the low-lying areas in Nizamabad.

RTC buses routinely use the railway under-bridge route and the driver did not assess the water level and entered the inundated area and the vehicle stalled. Passengers in the bus raised alarm seeking help. As a result, traffic police and others rushed to spot and shifted the victims to a safer place.

For the first time, heavy rain lashed Nizamabad on Monday in the current season. The Nizamabad-Narsi interstate road, Bodhan road, Malapally, Neharkatta, NRI colony, Ahmadpura and other residential colonies were inundated.
