Telangana: Caste census data will be kept confidential, Bhatti assures
Hyderabad: Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka said that all information gathered from the people for the caste census will be kept confidential. He said that there was no need for people to worry about any misuse as the state government has taken all steps to secure the data and ensure its privacy.
Addressing a press conference here on Wednesday, Vikramarka said that the findings from the caste census would be made public as soon as the survey concludes, in contrast to the Samagra Kutumba survey (intensive household survey) conducted by the BRS government, which was never made public.
He clarified that the purpose of the current caste survey was not to cancel ration cards or deny welfare scheme benefits but to understand the socio-economic and demographic landscape of the communities in Telangana.
Vikramarka urged the public to cooperate with the enumerators and provide accurate information without any apprehensions. He said that a measure of the transparency was that information would be fed into the computer system on the same day.
Vikramarka said that the state government has mobilised a substantial workforce to go about caste census, including 80,000 enumerators and 18,000 supervisors.
