Telangana CM A. Revanth Reddy Predicts BRS-BJP Merger, KTR Threatens Legal Action
Hyderabad: Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Friday predicted the merger of BRS with the BJP in the near future.
In an informal chat with mediapersons in Delhi, Reddy said that as part of the ‘deal' BRS president K. Chandrashekar Rao would be made a Governor, party working president K.T. Rama Rao would get a Union Cabinet berth and party leader T. Harish Rao will be the Leader of Opposition in the Telangana Assembly.
The Chief Minister said that following the merger, BRS MLC K. Kavitha would secure bail in the Delhi liquor scam and enter the Rajya Sabha as an MP.
The talk of BRS-BJP merger has been doing the rounds for the past few months.
Reacting to the statement, Rama Rao threatened to serve legal notices and file defamation cases against those spreading such speculation.
“The BRS leaders might condemn these speculations or reports now. But the merger will happen, if not immediately, at least in the coming days, once the deal is finalised,” Revanth Reddy said.
Revanth Reddy took exception to parties, who were trying to drag his family members into controvery. “Nobody in my family has been given any position in the Congress government. My family members are all settled in the USA. Even my brother going abroad is being politicised,” he said.
On the crop loan waiver, he said that anyone who has not received assistance can lodge a complaint with the respective collectorate. He said that the government had kept a Rs 5,000 crore reserve fund for farm loan waiver. “If more than one family member has loans, which together exceed Rs 2 lakh, the family has been considered as one unit and loan up to Rs 2 lakh has been waived,” he explained.
