Hyderabad: Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Tuesday approved the recruitment for 3,035 vacant positions in the Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TGSRTC), fulfilling a 12-year-old demand of an understaffed public transporter.

This is the first recruitment in RTC after the formation of Telangana in 2014 as the previous government, headed by K. Chandrashekhar Rao, could not recruit even one vacant post in its nearly 10-year tenure.

The public transporter, which was in severe losses, transformed financially after the Congress government introduced Mahalakshmi free bus scheme for women, giving joy to both RTC and women.

Minister for Transport and BC Welfare, Ponnam Prabhakar, shared the government’s decision to approve the recruitment and thanked Chief Minister Revanth Reddy and Deputy Chief Minister and Finance Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka for the approval.

“Vacant posts will be filled as soon as possible. The new blood will strengthen the public transport system in the state. The corporation is purchasing new buses with the support of the state government to meet the increased ridership to implement the Mahalakshmi scheme.”
