Telangana CM to speak at agri varsity event
Hyderabad: Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy will likely address the gathering at the diamond jubilee celebration of Prof. Jayashankar Telangana Agriculture University on Friday. Governor Jishnu Dev Varma will address the varsity in the morning session.
The celebrations will be held for two days on Friday and Saturday. Agriculture minister Tummala Nageshwara Rao reviewed the arrangements at the varsity and instructed officials to make arrangements for 4,000 farmers who will attend the celebrations and the Kisan Mela.
University vice-chancellor Aldas Janaiah joined the minister and reviewed the arrangements. On December 21, a meeting of the alumni association will be held to be presided over by the planning commission vice president G. Chinna Reddy. Former students like State Finance Commission chairman Siricilla Rajaiah, Marri Shashidhar Reddy, ex-vice chancellor Suravaram Raghuvardhan Reddy will attend the event. Asia Development Bank official Dr Anche Srinivasan, a former student of the varsity, and prominent scientist Prof. Vara Prasad of American Kansas State University will also attend.
Other notable speakers are ICAR DDG Dr R.C. Agarwal, Naarm director C.H. Srinivas Rao and Telangana higher education council chairman Prof. V. Balakrishna Reddy. Selected farmers and students who have excelled in their fields will receive awards on the occasion.
