Hyderabad: The Congress’ ‘Meet the Minister’ programme, launched at Gandhi Bhavan in Nampally on Wednesday, received a good response from the public and party workers on its inaugural day. Health minister Damodar Rajanarasimha, the first to participate, attended the session for nearly five hours, far exceeding the scheduled three-hour timeframe.

Thousands of people from across the state, including students, women, and the elderly, sought solutions to issues ranging from job opportunities and housing to pensions and land disputes. Rajanarasimha personally received over 285 petitions, resolving 30 on the spot by coordinating with officials.

"We will take all applications, whether they come from party workers or the public, and work towards resolving their issues. While problems cannot be solved overnight, we are giving time and effort to listen to the people. There was no one to listen to their grievances in the past, but now we are here," said Rajanarasimha. "We are taking these applications seriously and sending them to the concerned departments for action. I will do my best to resolve each problem that comes before me, regardless of which department it belongs to," he added.

The initiative, introduced by newly-appointed TPCC president Mahesh Kumar Goud, aims to foster direct engagement between the public and ministers.

"We organised this public grievance redressal programme at Gandhi Bhavan because we value the voices of our people. Ministers will continue to come here twice a week, taking the concerns of the people directly to the relevant officials for resolution," Goud said. He emphasised that the programme reflects the Congress’ commitment to listening to the people and resolving their concerns.
