Adilabad: Ruling Congress is focussing on strengthening the party at the grassroots level before going ahead with the local body elections. For the purpose, senior party leaders are holding preparatory meetings at the assembly constituency levels.

In this regard, Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka will meet villagers of Pipri in Bajarhathnoor mandal of Adilabad district on Wednesday, August 7. He is expected to enthuse second-rung leaders and party workers into strengthening the party.

Significantly, Bhatti Vikramarka, as then CLP leader, had launched his People’s March from the same Pipri village on March 16, 2023.

Sources said Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy will focus on holding elections to the local bodies soon after returning from the US.

Congress leadership is confident of performing well in these elections, since the party government has already started fulfilling its key promise of crop loan waiver, whose three phases will be completed soon. It has further fulfilled other promises, including free rides for women throughout Telangana in RTC buses

It is learnt that soon after the CM returns, TPCC will organise a preparatory meeting with party senior leaders, assembly in-charges and DCC presidents for elections to local bodies. Congress leaders say elections will first be held for gram panchayats, followed by other local bodies.

Many Congress leaders have become active with the news that state government will soon issue a notification for the local body polls. They have started lobbying with in-charge ministers, local Congress MLAs and assembly constituency in-charges in order to get party nominations.

Telangana state Girijan Cooperative Finance Corporation chairman Kotnak Tirupati former ZPTC Mallepula Narasiah, senior Congress leaders Satyanarayana, Mallesh, Dr. Vannela Ashok and Khalid Sheik visited the Pipri village to oversee arrangements for Bhatti Vikramarka’s meeting with the villagers on Wednesday.
