Telangana: Dengue Claims 6 Lives in Warangal and Karimnagar

 Warangal: An 11-year-old girl died of dengue on Tuesday, taking the toll to six in one month in erstwhile Warangal and Karimnagar districts.

The girl along with her brother, residents of Thatikayala of Dharmasagar mandal, was admitted to a private hospital at Hanamkonda a week back. They were later shifted to a hospital in Hyderabad. After three days, her brother recovered while the girl, suffering from dengue, was shifted to another hospital in Hyderabad where she died on Monday night.

According to health officials, a total of 519 dengue cases were identified, of which, 230 cases were recorded in Mahbubabad district followed by 102 cases in Warangal, 80 in Hanamkonda, 42 in Mulugu, 35 in Jayashankar Bhupalpally and 30 dengue cases in Jangaon district. In Rajanna Sircilla district, a pregnant woman along with her newborn died of dengue on August 15.

A total of 378 dengue cases were identified in erstwhile Karimnagar district. Of which 192 cases were recorded in Jagtial followed by 93 in Karimnagar, 64 in Peddapalli and 29 in Rajanna Sircilla district.

Previously an eight-month pregnant woman, Bammakanti Shirisha, 29, of Gatlakaniparthy of Shayampet mandal died on August 2, a four-year old girl of Thorrur mandal on August 21, a nine-month-old girl from Penugonda of Kesamudram mandal on August 23 and 23-year-old engineering student B. Prem Kumar of Thorrur died on August 25. In Rajanna Sircilla district, a pregnant woman, Thallapally Shirisha, 30, along with her newborn daughter of Narayanpur of Yellareddypet mandal died after suffering from dengue fever on August 15.
