Hanamkonda Hotels Ashoka, Shreya raid: Expired items, houseflies in milk

Warangal: With food sefety inspections revealing violations by major thriving restaurants in Hyderabad, the task force of food safety department extended its inspections to the districts. The officials raided several hotels in Hanamkonda on May 30.
The commissioner of food safety stated on X, (formerly Twitter) that the special team had inspected hotels in Hanamkonda.

* Synthetic food colours used in food preparation.
* Raw meat (chicken) 25kg & Cauliflower (4kg) was discarded.
* FSSAI license not displayed at prominent location.
* Semi-prepared and raw food articles were stored inside refrigerator without proper labelling and proper covering and proper temperature is not maintained.
* The kitchen premises found open to outside environment without proper mesh/barrier to avoid entry of pests or flies and dustbins found open without lids.
* Food Handlers found without haircaps, gloves and aprons. Medical fitness certificates for food handlers and pest control records not found with the FBO.
* Water analysis report not available with FBO for RO water supplied and used at the premises for cooking and drinking.
* Rust formation observed on vessels.

* Usage of synthetic food colors traced.
* Raw chicken (10kg), Rotten eggs (50), Jaggery (7kg), Prepared fish tikka (1kg) which got spoiled and Idly batter (3 kg) was seized and discarded.
* House flies found in prepared food & fungal infestation (moulds) found on cooked chicken stored in refrigerator.
* Reused cooking oil was discarded.
* Drinking water bottles (60 No.s) Sweet corn (10 pkts) were seized for label defects.
* Food handlers found without wearing any haircaps, gloves and aprons and medical fitness certificates.
* Dustbins found open without lids and placed nearby cooked food and open drainage observed in kitchen.
* Perforated walls and dirt deposition noticed in dining room.
* Improper storage of veg and non-veg food, cooked and raw food items and proper temperature was not maintained for long period of time.

At Hotel Ashoka, Idly batter (8kg), Boiled milk (5L) in which Houseflies were traced and also the officials also found expired Synthetic food colours, Chicken masala (11 packets), Sauce (3 bottles) and discarded them
The officials also found that trepared food was kept under the roof with spider webs. Oil deposition on roof was also found to be leaking.
* Reused cooking oil identified.
* Expired raw materials were found and label defects were identified on food articles.
* Indian noodles (17 pkts), Saunf (28 pkts) were seized and samples collected for lab analysis.
* Food Handlers were found without Proper Hairnets, Aprons and gloves.
* FSSAI License copy was not displayed at any prominent location of the premises.
