Telangana Government to Push Maharashtra for Korata-Chanaka Barrage Completion

Adilabad: IT minister D. Sridhar Babu on Tuesday took stock of the flood situation in Adilabad district and visited river Penganga on the state’s borders. He said 70 per cent of the Korata-Chanaka barrage work was completed while the remaining will be completed with the coordination of the Maharashtra government.

He said Maharashtra government has to release funds to clear the compensation for the lands acquired for the barrage on Maharashtra side.

Along with local MLA Payal Shankar, collector Rajarshi Shah and SP Gause Alam, Sridhar Babu visited Penganga to learn about the flood situation and inflows and outflows.

He said the state government will coordinate with the Maharashtra government and ensure early completion of the Korata-Chanaka barrage so that flood threats to villages on the banks of the Penganga in Adilabad district are prevented.

The minister said the Centre should revive the Adilabad branch of CCI (Cement Corporation of India) which was closed long back and added that the central government should stop auctioning iron material of the closed factory.

Sridhar Babu asked collector Rajarshi Shah to submit a report on the closed Adilabad unit of CCI including its assets and lands.

Adilabad Assembly constituency in-charge Kandi Srinivas Reddy and Nirmal DCC president Srihari Rao, senior Congress leaders Atram Suguna and Goverdhan Reddy, Shakeel and Gudipalli Nagesh and Zaheer Ramzani were present at the event.
