Telangana Govt forms panels to expedite Indiramma houses scheme
Hyderabad: The state government has constituted Indiramma committees at gram panchayat and municipal ward levels for effective implementation of the scheme across the state.
In the first phase, the state government has decided to extend financial assistance of Rs 5 lakh to each beneficiary for construction of 4.5 lakh Indiramma houses. The government issued orders to this effect here on Friday.
Construction of Indiramma houses in place of BRS government’s 2BHK housing scheme was one of the major promises of the Congress during Assembly election campaign as part of its Six Guarantees.
Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy formally launched the scheme in Bhadrachalam on March 11. He announced that 4.5 lakh houses would be constructed at a cost of `22,500 crore with the ownership to be in the name of the woman of the house.
However, the works have not been grounded so far. The government has decided to constitute Indiramma panels for identifying the beneficiaries and a speedy execution of the project.
At the gram panchayat level, the sarpanch or the special officer will be the chairperson of the committee. Two women from SHG group, three local villagers (at least one BC member and one from the SC/ ST category) and panchayat secretary will be members in the committee.
At the municipal ward level, the councillor or corporator will be the chairperson of the committee. Two women from SHG group, three locals and the ward officer will be the members.
The panel members should be actively involved in the social audit and report to the government about wrongful exclusion of any eligible family or wrongful inclusion of any ineligible family
