HYDERABAD: Justice Pulla Karthik of the Telangana High Court passed an interim order directing the government to consider the representation of a 90-year-old retired government lecturer who was seeking her pension.

The judge was hearing a writ plea filed by G. Tilakam, who retired from service in 1993. The petitioner alleged that she had not received her pension since the date of her retirement.

Senior counsel L. Ravichander, appearing for the petitioner, pointed out that despite various representations to the concerned authorities, her pension remained unsanctioned. He also brought to the notice of the court that the petitioner was an old woman and the delay shown on the part of respondent authorities made it difficult for the petitioner to live a dignified life.

After hearing senior counsel, the judge directed the respondent authorities to consider the representations of the petitioner for grant of pension until disposal of the writ petition. The judge also directed the respondent authorities to file their response within four weeks.
