Hyderabad: The Telangana High Court on Monday issued notices to BRS MLAs accused of defection, the Election Commission of India, the Legislative Assembly to submit their contentions with regard to the admission of a PIL filed by Dr K.A. Paul seeking the disqualification of the defector legislators.

A division bench comprising Chief Justice Alok Aradhe and Justice J. Sreenivas Rao was hearing the PIL. Dr Paul made the Assembly Speaker the first respondent. He also sought directions to the defector MLAs to not attend Assembly sessions or exercise their power or right to vote in the House. Dr Paul, who appeared as a party in person, sought directions to the Election Commission to ensure strict compliance with anti-defection laws.

Dr Paul was unable to disclose the date of the future Assembly sessions. Hence, the court was not inclined to grant interim relief.
