Telangana HC Stays Arrest of Former BRS MLA Shankar Naik
Hyderabad:Justice K. Lakshman of the Telangana High Court directed the Subedari police of Hanamkonda to not arrest Shankar Naik, former BRS MLA from Mahbubabad, till December 12.
A FIR was registered against Naik on charges of grabbing land and illegally trespassing into the property owned by Jallipalli Padmavathi, a government teacher. The complainant said her father had purchased 497 sq. yds of land in Survey No. 186 from one Maram Veeraiah. In 2009, Padmavathi’s father registered 248.5 sq. yds of this land in her name, while the remaining portion was registered in the name of her mother, Jallipalli Anjali.
In 2015, Anjali transferred her portion to Padmavathi. Subsequently, Padmavathi obtained house construction permission from the GWMC and built a compound wall.
On November 16, they visited the property and discovered that a portion of the compound wall had been demolished and occupied by some miscreants, reportedly working with former MLA Naik.
