Telangana: Kolam Woman Dies of Snakebite

 Adilabad: A Kolam Adivasi woman died of snakebite in New Somvarpet of Gudihathnoor mandal on Sunday. Sidam Laxmi, 26, was staying alone in a hut in line with the tradition of not allowing women on their menstruation to stay in their homes.

Laxmi was bitten by a snake while she was sleeping on the floor of the hut on Sunday. The family members went to the hut when Laxmi complained of suffocation and burning in the stomach.

The villagers took her to the Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), Adilabad, but she died during treatment.
