Telangana: KTR Apologises for Controversial Comments on Women in Buses
Hyderabad: BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao, whose comments on Thursday that women could dance while travelling free in RTC buses led to a severe backlash, and a suo motu inquiry by the State Women’s Commission, on Friday said: “I have asked for forgiveness on what I said. What I said was unintentional. I have apologised for that.”
Earlier in the day, Rama Rao, in a post on X, said he regretted his comments and it was never his intention to hurt the feelings and sentiments of women.
Speaking to the media later, Rama Rao said: Now the question is whether Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, who made offensive comments in the Assembly about our women legislators has the same approach and will offer an apology.”
During an address to party workers in Station Ghanpur on Thursday, Rama Rao, speaking on free bus travel for women, had said that these passengers can spend their time any which way they choose including doing break dances and recording dances.
