After being missing for 30 years, Kachhu Mallaiah reunites with his brother and sister in his native village of Venkataipally, Gangadhara mandal, Karimnagar district, accompanied by his wife and son.

Karimnagar: In a startling turn of events, a man who disappeared over 30 years ago from a hospital has miraculously returned to his native village, accompanied by his wife and their 18-year-old son. The remarkable reunion took place in Venkataipally village, Gangadhara mandal, Karimnagar district.

Kachhu Mallaiah, the youngest son of Bakkaiah and Bakkavva, vanished from MGM Hospital at the tender age of 12. His mother had been critically injured in a tragic accident in Karimnagar and was admitted to MGM Hospital, where she sadly passed away during treatment. In his desperate search for water, a thirsty Mallaiah stepped outside the hospital but lost his way, never to be seen again.
Speaking to Deccan Chronicle, Mallaiah shared that he initially worked as a labourer and later got employed by a flower merchant. After many years with the flower merchant, he married the merchant’s daughter.
Mallaiah then took up painting as a business. However, after the birth of his son, he thought of visiting his native village but was apprehensive about facing his father, a strict man, fearing he would be reprimanded for not attending his mother’s funeral.
Encouraged by his wife and son, Mallaiah finally gathered the courage to return. Two days ago, he arrived in his village and reunited with his brother Komuraiah and other relatives. His family was overjoyed to see him again.
Komuraiah, Mallaiah’s elder brother, told Deccan Chronicle that the family was thrilled to see Mallaiah return with his wife and son after 30 years, a reunion they never expected.
"Since our father, Bakkaiah, passed away long ago, Mallaiah didn’t recognise us initially, but I identified him, and we all welcomed him warmly," Komuraiah said. "I even arranged a get-together, inviting all our relatives to celebrate Mallaiah’s return," he added with joy.
S. Megharaju, a former village sarpanch, explained that Mallaiah, who used to accompany his father grazing sheep and goats, had no formal education. After living in isolation without family all these years, Mallaiah, with his wife’s support, decided to come back. His relatives and fellow villagers were delighted to welcome him home.
