Karimnagar: The Metpally police on Saturday nabbed six people of a gang and seized from them fake currency notes with a face of Rs 7 lakh of fake currencies, a motorcycle, six mobile phones and Rs 5,050 in Jagtial district.

DSP Uma Maheshwar identified the accused as Sanjeev, Shiva Kumar, Kishan, Gangaram, Mallaiah and Ashok.


The gang targeted people by making them believe that they will give fake currency notes in exchange of real ones. When the transaction was on, some gang members would claim that the police were arriving. The gang would then escape with the cash of the prospective customers.

The gang was operating for a year and had looted around Rs 10 lakh from various persons in Hyderabad, Karimnagar, and Jagtial districts.

On a tip-off, the police started an investigation and nabbed the six from a dhaba at Venkatraopet village.
