Hyderabad:The government on Friday constituted a one-man judicial commission of inquiry for sub-classification within Scheduled Castes (SCs) to implement Supreme Court directions. Former High Court judge Justice Shameen Akther will head the commission, which has been asked to submit its report within 60 days.

The Supreme Court had on August 1 ruled in favour of sub-classifying SCs for the purpose of providing reservations in education and employment.

Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy constituted a cabinet sub-committee headed by minister N. Uttam Kumar Reddy to study the verdict and recommend measures on implementing the apex court directives. The sub-committee on Wednesday recommended the appointment of a one-man judicial commission to study the matter.

Following this, Revanth Reddy firmed up the decision and orders were issued on Friday appointing the one-man judicial commission with Justice Akhter to head it.
