Telangana: Police Destroy 72 Loud Silencers in Sircilla
Karimnagar: The Sircilla police, under the supervision of district superintendent of police Akhil Mahajan, destroyed 72 loud silencers and three police sirens that had been illegally fitted, using a road roller in Rajanna Sircilla district on Tuesday.
Speaking on the occasion, the SP stated that after receiving multiple complaints from the public about the noise pollution, the police conducted a special drive and seized a total of 75 modified silencers, including three police sirens that were fitted in violation of regulations.
He warned automobile shop owners against selling loud exhaust silencers that cause noise pollution, and mechanics against fitting such silencers, stating that criminal cases would be filed under the Motor Vehicles Act, in addition to the vehicles being seized. He further mentioned that once a vehicle is seized, it would be difficult for the owner to retrieve it without going through legal proceedings.
Mahajan urged the public to contact Sircilla traffic SI on 8712656441 and Vemulawada traffic SI on 8712656440 if they observe anyone using modified silencers or violating regulations.
