Telangana: Police review preparations of Ganesh Chaturthi

Hyderabad: In preparation for the approaching Ganesh Chaturthi festival, city police commissioner Kothakota Sreenivasa Reddy held a coordination meeting with the members of Bhagyanagar Ganesh Utsav Samithi and Khairatabad Ganesh Utsav Samithi, police officials from the three commissionerates and the officials of other departments at Telangana Command and Control Centre, Banjara Hills on Saturday.

During the meeting, the Utsav Samithi members raised several issues pertaining to the festival, including potholes on the roads, the need for adequate illumination at specific locations, the availability of vehicles for mandapam organisers and arrangements for food and water during the immersion night, among others.

Addressing these concerns, the authorities assured the samiti members to allocate necessary resources, both material and personnel, adequate number of cranes, road repair works, lights installation, measures to prevent electrocution, providing tuskers and other heavy vehicles and tree-pruning.

Commissioner Sreenivasa Reddy emphasised that organisers shall comply with court orders and appealed to the utsav samitis to duly fill out the intimation forms and assured them that the police department would make elaborate arrangements for the festival. He sought the cooperation of various departments for the effective execution of plans and successful completion of the festival.

Senior police officials Vikram Singh Mann, P. Viswa Prasad, Cyberabad police commissioner Avinash Mohanty, Dr Gajarao Bhupal, GHMC commissioner Amrapali Kata, Hyderabad collector Anudeep Durishetti and the officials from transport department, TGRTC, R&B (electrical and buildings), TGSPDCL, I&PR, health and family welfare department, HMDA, irrigation department, HMWS&SB, tourism department, EMRI-108, MMTS of South Central Railway and Metro Rail participated in the coordination meeting, a press release issued by city police commissioner said.
