Warangal: The family of a pregnant woman staged a protest outside the Primary Health Centre (PHC) in Kataram mandal, Jayashankar Bhupalpally district, demanding action against hospital staff over alleged negligence that led to the loss of her baby.
The woman, identified as Kondu Haritha from Danthalapally village, was admitted to the PHC on October 29 after experiencing minor labour pains. Doctors opted to wait for stronger contractions for a normal delivery and administered an injection to stimulate labour.
The following day, Haritha reportedly experienced severe pain and requested a surgical delivery. However, the doctors attempted a normal delivery by applying pressure on her abdomen, but the delivery was unsuccessful. They advised her to wait another day.
When Haritha later noticed a lack of foetal movement, she enquired about the baby’s health. Medical staff reassured her that the baby was fine and referred her to the district government hospital. Upon arrival, doctors at the main hospital discovered the foetus had died.
Alleging medical negligence by Dr Mounika and the PHC staff, Haritha and her family filed a formal complaint, seeking justice. Following the incident, district medical and health officer Dr Madusudhan ordered an inquiry. Health officials Dr Sridevi and Dr Ravi Rathod visited the PHC, reviewing Haritha’s treatment timeline, her referral details, and the reasons for her transfer to the government hospital.
