Hyderabad: Director General of Police (DGP) Jitender on Sunday asked all superintendents of police and police commissioners to be on alert to ensure the safety of citizens, following incessant rains across Telangana over the past two days and more wet weather predicted.

The DGP asked the district police units to set up control rooms to respond to flood-related complaints. The police officials and staff must work in coordination with the other departments, he said.

A portion of gravel under the railway track near Kesamudram in Mahabubabad district was washed away due to flood waters. Passengers were stranded. Rural circle inspector Sarvayya, SI Muralidhar and other staffers provided food, water bottles, and biscuit packets to the passengers.

DGP Jitender appreciated the Mahabubabad district police personnel for their efforts. The DGP also lauded the Nagarkurnool police for rescuing a man who was stuck in flood waters.
