Telangana school students to enjoy 9-days of holidays in January

In a good news to students, schools in Telangana and Hyderabad are set for nine day holidays in the first month of the New year, as per the official holiday list.
January 1, being the 'New Year' and four Sundays make the five days of holidays, while the five other days include three general holidays and two optional -- Bhogi (January 13), Sankranti (January 14), Kanuma (Optional)(January 15), Shab-e-Meraj (Optional) (January 25) and Republic Day (January 26).
However, with Republic Day falling on Sunday, the ten day on paper holidays would mean nine days in practical sense.
Sankranti Holidays:
On top of the 9 general and optional holidays, the State Education Department had announced special leaves for the Sankranti festivities. The Government according to the 2024-25 academic calendar had fixed 6 days starting from January 12 to 17 as holidays for the auspicious festival.
