Hyderabad: Irrigation minister N Uttam Kumar Reddy congratulated the 687 new assistant executive engineer recruits to the irrigation department to whom appointment orders were handed over on Thursday declaring that they should take pride in the fact that they will now be part of one of the most important departments of the government.

He was addressing the recruits at a function at Jalsoudha in the presence of Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, who Uttam Kumar Reddy noted was the first Chief Minister to visit the department headquarters.

The irrigation minister said that of the recruits, 480 were men and 207 women. Of these, 351 were civil engineers, 93 are mechanical engineers, while 149 were electrical engineers, and 94 were agriculture engineers.

“Every one of you will be posted in the field, at different projects after training at Walamtari. Take the training very seriously. And do not ask for this or that posting, that will not happen, though women may get some consideration,” he said.
