NIZAMABAD: Viral fever has been spreading in Nizamabad and Kamareddy districts for the last few days. “Many people, especially children, are suffering from viral fevers in view of the change in climate. Some people are affected by typhoid, malaria and dengue fevers,” officials said.

Both government and private hospitals witnessed larger turnout of patients at their OP wings. They complained of fever, loose motion and vomiting.

Viral fever cases were reported from villages and towns in Nizamabad and Kamareddy districts. Private medical practitioners in villages are providing basic medical treatment to the viral fever patients. People also thronged private hospitals in Nizamabad, Kamareddy, Bodhan, Armoor, Banswada and other towns.

However, the GGH in Nizamabad, the district hospitals, the area hospitals and the primary health centres are also treating the viral fever cases.

Nizamabad GGH superintendent Prathima said the viral fever cases were under control. “There is no need for panic about the spread of viral fevers as sufficient medical staff and drugs are available,” she told Deccan Chronicle.

She said viral fever cases were gradually increasing in Nizamabad. “The GGH in Nizamabad is treating more patients than the Gandhi Hospital in Hyderabad and MGM in Warangal, in respect of some ailments,” she said.

Pavan Reddy, a private sector employee of Velpur in Nizamabad district said, “Our daughter suffered from viral fever for the last couple of days. She was staying in the hostel of a corporate college in Hyderabad. The college authorities informed us about her ill health. Í rushed to Hyderabad and handed over to her the required medicines for viral fever.”

Specialist doctor Bharat Pawar said there was no need to worry about fevers. “Viral fever can be controlled within three days with proper medication. If the fever symptoms continue after three days, patients should go for the CBP, CRP tests,” he said.
