Telangana: Water Being Lifted from Yellampalli to Manair Dams

Karimnagar: Irrigation officials have started lifting water from the Sripada Yellampalli Project (SYP) and supplying it to the dams on the Manair River to fulfil the drinking and irrigation water needs of Karimnagar, Warangal, Khammam and Siddipet districts.

Heavy rains towards the end of July led to 1,000 cusecs of water flowing into the Upper Manair Dam (UMD), 1 TMC in the Mid Manair Dam (MMD), and 0.5 TMC in the Lower Manair Dam (LMD).

On the brighter side, Godavari River has received heavy inflows, with Sripada Yellampalli Project (SYP) receiving 15 TMC of water against its full capacity of 20.17 TMC.

As 1 TMC of water is entering SYP daily, irrigation officials are lifting around 12,600 cusecs of water using four pump sets at the Nandi pump house and sending the same to the Gayatri pump house, which is then supplying water to MMD. Irrigation officials have so far released around 10 TMC of water to MMD.

At present, water level in MMD is 17.06 TMC against its full capacity of 27.54 TMC. Water level in LMD is 5.34 TMC against its full capacity of 24 TMC. Whereas the water level in UMD is 0.48 TMC against its full capacity of 2 TMC.

Officials will supply three more TMC of water to MMD, so that the water level reaches 20 TMC. Officials will then release around 10 TMC to LMD. From there, water will be released to the four districts of Karimnagar, Warangal, Khammam and Siddipet districts.
