Hyderabad: The Telangana Women’s Commission on Saturday announced disciplinary action against six of its members for tying rakhis to former minister K.T. Rama Rao, when he was summoned to the commission’s office over his remarks against women travelling free in buses.

The six members tied rakhis to the BRS leader in the presence of party MLAs Sunita Laxma Reddy, Sabitha Indra Reddy and MLC Satyavathi Rathod.

Women’s Commission chief Sharada Nerella emphasised the need for the members to maintain impartiality and uphold integrity. She condemned the behaviour of the members, stating that such actions were not in line with the dignity expected of the commission.

Nerella directed the commission secretary to issue notices to the members involved and initiate disciplinary proceedings against them.
