Telangana: Young India Skill University to Launch Courses from Dasara

The Chief Secretary stated that around 20 courses have been identified to be offered by Skill University, with six courses scheduled to start from Dasara.

Hyderabad: The government's newly-established Young India Skill University will commence from Dasara in October, with six courses initially. The decision was taken at the review meeting on the Skill University held by Chief Secretary A. Santhi Kumari with senior officials at the Secretariat on Saturday.

Shanti Kumari said around 20 courses have been identified, with six courses will commence in October. She said the Skill University was being constructed on a 57-acre plot in Muchharla and the university will operate from a temporary building, probably the Engineering Staff College of India, until the construction is completed.

The university has garnered interest for collaboration from over 140 companies. The inaugural certificate and diploma courses will focus on e-commerce, logistics and the retail sector. Major corporates including SBI, NAC, Dr. Reddy's and the TVAGA have expressed their support as training partners, with additional involvement from organisations like Adani Corporation and Confederation of Indian Industry.

The CS informed that the Skill University graduates would be prioritised for employment opportunities with competitive salaries, underscoring the initiative’s potential to drive job creation and economic growth in the state.

Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy laid the foundation for the construction of the Skill University campus at a cost of `150 crore in Mirkhanmet in Kandukur mandal in Rangareddy district on the city outskirts on August 1.

The state government has appointed renowned industrialist Anand Mahindra as the university chairperson and Srinivasa C. Raju as the co-chairman.
