Telangana's Initiatives on AI Get Praise from Centre
HYDERABAD: Telangana received effusive praise from the Centre government on various initiatives to promote and mainstream artificial intelligence (AI).
Abhishek Singh, additional secretary in the Union ministry of electronics and information technology, said Telangana had taken the lead in AI compared to other states.
Telangana has set up an AI City, providing incentives for companies setting up data centres and others.
Yotta Infrastructure, which offers hyperscale data centre solutions, will be setting up AI compute facilities in Telangana. It had deployed about 4,000 graphics processing units (GPUs) in Maharashtra. They have plans to set up around 25,000 more. Various states are giving incentives to such companies to set up data centres and Telangana is one of the leading state in that, he said on the sidelines of AI Global Summit here.
Similarly, when it comes to application development, Telangana has been a leader in making data sets available to start-up building new use cases. The state also did the intelligent solutions for road safety through technology and engineering (iRaste) ) projects. It also executed an AI project in the agriculture sector. It has tried out blockchain-based voting systems. So, Telangana is a progressing state which incentivises adoption of new technologies, he said.
“The government of India will work with such states. We give the funding but actually the implementation will happen at the state level. So, there we look at Telangana as a progressive partner,” said Singh.
