TGSPDCL gearing up to meet growing demand: CMD
Hyderabad:The power demand in Greater Hyderabad limits is consistently growing in the summer months. As against 3,756 megawatts of peak power demand in the previous year, the power demand had increased by 16 per cent to 4,352 megawatts in the last summer.
As against 81.39 million units of power consumption in the previous year, the power consumption also increased by 12 per cent to 90.68 million units in the last summer. The power demand for the next summer in 2025 is expected to grow by 20 to 25 per cent in the city limits, said Musharraf Ali Faruqui, CMD of TG Transco.
The TG Transco is finding the power demand is largely increasing in the areas in the city outskirts including Nemalinagar, Gopanpalli, Kokapet, Koheda, Thatti Annaram, Abdullapurmet, Mansanpally, Aziznagar, Kandukur, K. Singaram, Mallapur, Vayupuri, Uppal Bhagayat, Dundigal, etc.
In a review meeting with the officials, Musharraf Ali asked the officials to set up 220/132/33 KV sub-stations as per the demand, besides ensuring quality works in the operation and maintenance of repairs. He asked the officials to take due care for line clearance (LC) before taking up repairs.
The Transco and discom officials must coordinate effectively before taking line clearance. Musharraf Ali also directed the officials to complete all maintenance works before the Sankranti festival.
Jagat Reddy, co-director (transmission) of Transco, Dr Narasimlu, director (operations), Transco, Sri Ramji, chief engineer (TL and SS), Metro Zone, Srichakrapani, chief engineer and others took part in the review meeting.
