Nizamabad: TGSRTC officials suspended driver Sambaiah of Nizamabad-1 depot on Saturday for a bus getting stranded in floodwaters at the railway underbridge here on August 19. Around 90 passengers were travelling in the bus, when it stalled in the floodwaters.

Due to heavy rain in Nizamabad, floodwater had accumulated to a height of 3.5 feet under the underbridge at Kanteshwar road which is the regular route for RTC vehicles. Driver Sambaiah apparently misestimated the depth of water and drove into it.

When the bus stalled, passengers raised an alarm and were rescued by the police and locals. A video of the incident went viral on social media. As a result, TGSRTC officials conducted an inquiry and found the negligence of the driver and suspended him.
