Top tourism-performing collectors feted in Telangana

Hyderabad: Toruirism minister Jupally Krishna Rao felicitated the collectors of Mahbubnagar, Warangal and Jagtial on the occasion of World Tourism Day on Friday for their contribution in creating jobs and preserving heritage sites. The collectors were also recognised for their efforts in establishing Yuva Tourism Clubs, which is the Centre's flagship programme to push domestic tourism.

Also, during the official World Tourism Day event at National Institute of Tourism and Hospitality Management (NITHM) in Gachibowli, Krishna Rao launched the 'Telangana Darshini' programme for government school students.

Sivapriyam, Kakatiyam, Kuchipudi and Perini dance performances were held by students. Songs on patriotism, progress of Telangana and local tourist places were sung and films on tourism screened.

Speaking with Deccan Chronicle, A. Vani Prasad, principal secretary, tourism, said, “The government is focused on promoting eco-friendly tourism through sustainable practices and regulations aimed at protecting forests, rivers, and wildlife sanctuaries.”

Managing director of Telangana Tourism Nyalakonda Prakash Reddy highlighted plans for eco-tourism initiatives designed to manage tourism growth while preserving the environment and benefitting local communities.

"These efforts aim to preserve ecosystems while fostering cultural preservation and providing sustainable livelihoods," he said.

Telangana Tourism Development Corporation chairman Patel Ramesh Reddy, sports department chairman Shiva Sena Reddy, tourism and culture department principal secretary Vani Prasad, tourism department managing director Prakash Reddy, tourism director Ila Tripathi, language and culture department director Mamidi Harikrishna, boxer Nikhat Zareen, singer Saketh Komanduri and others attended the event.
