Transport Department Readying Arrangements for Mega Immersion Day

Hyderabad: Even as the city gears up for a grand immersion of idols of Lord Ganesha, the transport department, which coordinates between lorry owners and Ganesh pandal organisers, had a detailed discussion with members of Bhagyanagar Ganesh Utsava Samiti (BGUS).

Joint transport commissioner C. Ramesh, who chaired the meeting, made a note of the number of vehicles required on the big day, including the samithi’s plea for more vehicles.

Ramesh said, “we are expecting the participation of at least one lakh pandal organisers. We are making all necessary arrangements for the procurement of vehicles. Our executive and ministerial staff members have identified pooling points from where vehicles would be handed over to the samiti members.”

He added “A meeting was held recently with BGUS members and the DTC Rangareddy district and RTOs of Hyderabad, Rangareddy and Sangareddy districts to discuss various related issues.”

Samiti general secretary Dr Bhagawant Rao, said, “We have requested the department for more vehicles. Each year sees a rise in the number of mandaps.”
