Nizamabad: The Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TGSRTC) is all set to ply electric buses between Nizamabad and Hyderabad soon.

The corporation introduced environmentally-protected buses in the state. For Nizamabad region, 13 electric super luxury buses were allotted that will ply between Nizamabad and Jubilee Bus Station (JBS) in Secunderabad.

TGSRTC officials are busy with the registration process of the electric buses with the state transport department. Electric buses needed charging after every 300 km. In view of this, initially, these buses will be operated between Nizamabad and JBS only.

Speaking to Deccan Chronicle, TGSRTC Nizamabad regional manager Johny Reddy said around 30 new electric express buses were allotted for Nizamabad region. “We will ply express buses on different routes, not only in Hyderabad,” he said.

Replying to a question, he said the fare of the buses is common in electric buses as with other diesel buses. At present, charging facilities are available in Karimnagar and Warangal cities. Keeping this in mind, TGSRTC officials are planning to ply the buses on the Nizamabad-Karimnagar-Warangal route also.

Compared with the diesel buses, the maintenance of electric buses is low.
