Hyderabad: The entire premises housing the architectural marvel aka Rashtrapati Nilayam was breathing with fun and merriment , while visitors of all ages were caught spellbound by the amazing ambience that was provided by ‘Udyan Utsav 2025” here on Thursday.

Inspired by the popular ‘Amrit Udyan’ event at Rashtrapati Bhavan, the utsav welcomed thousands of visitors, from excited schoolchildren to senior citizens for a day that was full of flowers, culture and new ideas.
The major focus of the utsav were the stunning floral sculptures, with a majestic peacock made of colourful flowers lording over the gardens, while baby elephants crafted from marigolds and chrysanthemums caught the attention of children, who were transported to a magical world with a plethora of designs. The visitors could not stop themselves from taking pictures alongside these colourful creations, making them one of the utsav’s most-loved attractions.
Over 6,000 people made it to the event on the first day. They explored 50 stalls that showcased organic fertilizers, gardening tools, decorative crafts and even ideas from startups focusing on gardening and sustainability. In a befitting gesture, these stalls were inaugurated by a progressive farmer Suresh. Nurseries displayed a wide variety of plants, while food stalls offered tasty south Indian and Telangana dishes.
Farmers from across Telangana joined the event and expressed their joy at being part of it.
“This udyan utsav is amazing, I’ve never seen so many beautiful flowers and stalls in one place,” said Raju Naik from Warangal district.
Mallesh Yadav from Khammam district added, “It’s such a joyful experience. The energy, the exhibits and workshops are so dynamic.”
Schoolchildren were thrilled beyond words, especially the fun quiz that drew their wholesome praise.
“I loved the floral sculptures. They were so pretty!” said Nisha K, a fourth grade student, while sixth grader Aarav Kumar said, “The quiz was amazing. I learnt a lot. I am determined to grow my own plants at home.”
Teachers also praised the event. “This is a wonderful way to teach children about nature and sustainability. It’s such a great initiative,” said Yamini Srivastav, a schoolteacher.
One stall that stood out was from the startup NewKind, which focuses on reusable menstrual pads and period underwear.
“Each reusable pad can replace 75 single-use pads, which helps reduce plastic waste and makes the environment cleaner,” said Jahnavi Reddy, co-founder of Newkind.
India produces over 12 billion non-biodegradable sanitary pads every year, contributing to large amounts of waste and unhygienic conditions, she added.
The festival also featured amazing cultural performances, including Bharatanatyam, Kuchipudi and tribal dances. Workshops on farming and gardening techniques by scientists were also a hit among farmers.
Even senior citizens enjoyed the event. “The flower exhibits were so beautiful. The colours and designs were a joy. Events like this remind us about the importance of nature and horticulture,” said Bala Swami, an 82-year-old.
With its mix of flowers, culture and innovation, udyan utsav 2025 had visitors planning an encore.
“I wish such events are planned every year in Hyderabad,” said Anagha. G.
Officials stated that based on the public’s response, they will plan to make an annual celebration in Hyderabad.
