Unhygienic conditions found at Alpha hotel in Secunderabad during inspection
Hyderabad: Continuing its crackdown on hotels supplying unhygienic food to customers, the Food Safety department has inspected Alpha hotel near Secunderabad railway station and found unhygienic conditions like open dustbins, plastering flakes on ceiling and semi-food prepared food articles.
The team has also found improper storage of raw meat and semi prepared food articles in a refrigerator with possibility of cross-contamination. Alpha brand ice-cream and bread packets were found without manufacturing date and batch numbers. Tea powder packets observed without batch numbers, officials said.
They said the kitchen premise was not fitted with a proper insect-proof screen. The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) license copy was displayed at the entrance of the premises and the pest control records and medical fitness certificates were available. Food handlers found wearing hair caps, aprons and uniforms inside kitchen premises.
The Food Business Operator (FBO) hindered food safety officials during inspection and refused to sign inspection report at the end. As per clause 62 of Food Safety and Standards Act-2006, a case will be booked against the FBO with a punishment up three months and a fine up to Rs.1 lakh.
