WARANGAL: People of the Telugu-speaking states as well as devotees of the Bhadradri Sri Seetha Ramachandraswamy temple welcomed the Union Cabinet’s approval for a railway line connecting the temple down, among the eight that were given the nod on Friday.

Devotees face a lot of difficulties to reach Bhadrachalam as there is just one railway line up to the Bhadrachalam Road station. There is no railway connectivity to Bhadrachalam.

Pilgrims reach Dornakal and then come to Bhadrachalam Road and from there hire private vehicles or travel in buses to reach the temple. Once the new rail line is built, people can come directly to Bhadrachalam Road and then via Pandurangapuram reach the temple.

Last year, the government had sanctioned `100 crore for the doubling of the line from Dornakal to Bhadrachalam Road. There is already a railway line from Bhadrachalam Road to Manuguru via Pandurangapuram.

Praising the Centre for the new rail line, Union minister Bandi Sanjay Kumar said the approval of the eight railway projects proved that Prime Minister Narendra Modi was determined to strengthen the railway network.
