Suryapet: Irrigation minister N. Uttam Kumar Reddy on Sunday said the Congress government was committed to state's development and ensure transparency in implementing welfare schemes.

Speaking at the foundation stone-laying ceremony for the Janpahad-Huzurnagar R&B road at Nereducherla, Uttam Kumar Reddy said that the government is working in line with the aspirations of the people, giving equal importance to development and welfare. He highlighted the state’s rapid progress, stating, “In my 30 years of political life, I have not seen similar development in such a short period.”

The minister listed key welfare measures, including the crop loan waiver, free travel for farmers on TGSRTC buses, and the increase of Rajiv Aarogyasri coverage to Rs 10 lakh for medical treatment. He announced the launch of the Indiramma Atmeeya Bharosa scheme after Sankranti, which will provide Rs 12,000 annually to landless agricultural workers. Other initiatives like Rythu Bharosa, Indiramma housing, and new ration cards for eligible families will be implemented by January 26.

The minister also noted the government’s efforts in conducting a caste census to ensure proportional representation for BCs in local body elections. He emphasised the government’s focus on education, stating that the Rs 300-crore Young India Integrated Residential School at Gaddipally will be completed by the next academic year.

During his visit, he interacted with community leaders. At a mosque on Janpahad Road, he assured Rs 75 crore for constructing a shaadi khana in Nereducherla and instructed officials to identify land for the project.
