Nizamabad: Officials from the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Friday caught sub-inspector Krishna Kumar of Varni Police Station while he was accepting a bribe of Rs 20,000 from a farmer. DSP Shekar Goud and his team conducted the operation seizing the illicit funds.

The incident took place last Monday in Kotaiah Camp village, where farmer Nagaraju and another person were involved in a dispute. Following a complaint, sub-inspector Kumar contacted Nagaraju to reprimand him. Varni police subsequently registered a case against Nagaraju and demanded Rs 50,000 as station bail.

During negotiations, Nagaraju agreed to pay Rs 20,000 instead of the initially demanded amount. He approached ACB officials for assistance. Acting on the advice of ACB investigators, Nagaraju proceeded to hand over the Rs 20,000 bribe to sub-inspector Kumar. It was at this moment that ACB officials intervened, leading to the sub-inspector’s arrest.
